Land’s Sake Farm, a nonprofit community farm in Weston MA, seeks a year-round Assistant Education Manager for an immediate start, to help us continue to expand our education initiative. This position works in a tight-knit team alongside the Education Manager, Animal Care and Volunteer Coordinator, and seasonal staff to design and facilitate year-round farm-based programming, reaching more than 7,000 participants per year.

We emphasize place-based, hands-on learning experiences for all ages, and run programs featuring sustainable agriculture, animal encounters, food security, and more. Our outdoor programming runs in all seasons and comes in a wide variety of formats. Successful candidates will be excited to teach people of all ages, get their hands dirty, and create systems to help the farm thrive as we transition into a more year-round model. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Planning and leading education programs such as field trips, afterschool programs, summer and vacation week programming, family visits, volunteer groups, and birthday parties.
Taking a primary role in our summer programs, including managing hiring and registration.
Involved with designing and maintaining the education garden and other growing spaces
Assisting with the management of education livestock (rabbits, chickens, ducks, quail and goats).
Helping with administrative work such as: communicating with visiting groups and families, scheduling staff and programs, record keeping, and updating lesson plans.
Assisting with hiring, training, mentoring and supervising seasonal educators and interns.

What we look for:

Able to juggle different tasks and priorities, stay organized in an ever-changing environment, and wear many hats.
Love and knowledge of education, farming, sustainability, food justice and natural sciences.
Experience working with a variety of age groups in informal, hands-on settings.
Able to communicate and work effectively with people of all backgrounds and ages.
Able to work and make decisions independently, but also excited to collaborate.
College degree or higher.
Flexible and reliable: able and willing to work some weekends.
Eager to get your hands dirty and have fun!

Duration and Compensation:
Ideal start date in late August or September, but negotiable for the right candidate.
Full time (35-45 hours/week) schedule to be built with a successful applicant. Hours are flexible but must include some early mornings (8am start) and at least one weekend a month.
$18-20/hr (based on experience)
Free produce and flowers grown on the farm, discount on other items sold at the farmstand
50% of health care costs covered by Land’s Sake
