MEES has several volunteer positions available throughout the year.
Volunteer at the Annual Conference
Receive complimentary attendance at the conference in exchange for an hour or two of your time. Positions include:
- Greeter (1 position available) – must be able to arrive by 7:30 a.m. for a briefing and then maintain a presence in the foyer to help answer questions from attendees (typically: where is registration, I am an exhibitor where do I go, I am a presenter where do I go, where are the restrooms)
- Registration (1 position available) – must be able to arrive by 7:30 a.m. for a briefing and then sit at the registration table and help attendees find their name tag, hand out their registration information, and answer any questions they may have
For students:
- MEES would like to have a Room Coordinator present in each of the eight workshops rooms to assist presenters with set-up and to distribute surveys to attendees. This position requires the Room Coordinator to spend a few minutes at the beginning and end of each workshop assisting the presenter. Room Coordinators can attend any workshop, but they must be willing to leave early/arrive late if the workshop is in a different room.
Volunteer to Lead a Walk/Talk
The environmental education community has many professionals eager to share their knowledge. MEES would like to host informative walks & talks throughout the year, led by EE professionals willing to donate their time and possibly their facility. For example: June Bug, a professional educator at a Massachusetts land trust, offers to lead a native wildflower walk at her site in the spring. June coordinates the logistics with her site and the MEES Board sends out marketing emails and provides light refreshments.
If you might be interested in leading a walk and/or talk please get in touch with the Board: [email protected].
