Outdoor Workshop for High School Teachers: Hands-on Science in Massachusetts Ecosystems
August 15, 2023 @ 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
Background & skills & approaches for introducing high school students to natural resource conservation & management with connections to Next Generation Science Standards
Curious about how to assess a landscape for wildlife habitat? Do you know how to tell what those D shaped holes in tree bark mean for the health of the forest and the trees on your street? Ever thought of finally mastering identifying trees in winter? Have you ever used an aerial photo to help determine potential water pollution sources? Just what are soil horizons and how can you teach them in the field without a backhoe? All this and more at Mass Envirothon’s workshop for coaches on Tuesday August 15. Spend the day outside with natural resource professionals learning how to apply knowledge and work with new and experienced coaches to plan how to share this knowledge with your team.
