The Audubon Society of Rhode Island seeks a visionary director to lead our efforts in inspiring and connecting visitors to the mission of Audubon and the wonders of the natural world. Climate change is a principal priority for the Audubon Society of Rhode Island, and our partnership-based approach to policy, advocacy, education, research, and conservation has been critical to our success.
Key Responsibilities:
– Carry out the vision of the Nature Center and Aquarium as a gateway to environmental science, education and conservation
– Oversee engaging exhibits, programs, and partnerships that inform visitors about Audubon’s critical roles in Rhode Island
– Manage staff, daily operations, and budgets while supporting strategic initiatives
– Foster community partnerships and lead outreach efforts to expand our impact
– Support fundraising, including grant writing and donor relations
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s preferred)
– 5+ years in a leadership role within a nonprofit or similar visitor-focused organization
– Strong background in environmental education, conservation, and advocacy
– Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
