Outdoor Programs Assistant (part-time/temporary)

Get outside and play this summer and fall with caregivers and children in Discovery Woods, our fully accessible outdoor playscape and tree house designed for all ages! The Outdoor Programs Assistant will facilitate outdoor activities designed to engage families with nature and the environment through play. This position promotes enjoyable and meaningful visitor experiences with the outdoors and supports the Discovery Museum’s mission to inspire enduring curiosity and love of learning. The Outdoor Programs Assistant will collaborate with the Outdoor and Environmental Educator to choose and schedule programs, and will independently facilitate programs in Discovery Woods and on the adjoining Conservation Land.

Qualifications: We seek applicants with the ability to create a welcoming and supportive environment for diverse parents, caregivers, and children. Applicants must be comfortable working outdoors and with children, walking over uneven terrain, standing, stooping, and some lifting required. A passion for being outdoors is required and environmental education experience is preferred but not required. A CORI check will be required at time of offer.

Hours and Pay: July 1st through November 1st. Part time (~10 to 15 hours a week, about three 3-hour shifts per week): schedule will be set in collaboration with the Outdoor and Environmental Educator. Occasional weekend shifts required. Friday morning shifts (9am-12pm) required. $13/hr.
