Essex County Greenbelt Association

Essex County Greenbelt Association (Greenbelt) TM is a private, non-profit land trust working to preserve Essex County’s open space with ecological, agricultural or scenic significance, with special emphasis on protecting natural “greenbelt” corridors. Greenbelt’s TM headquarters are at the Cox Reservation in Essex, a rich historical and nature resource. To instill a strong conservation ethic in future citizens, Greenbelt’s Education Committee has developed inquiry-based, hands-on curriculum materials for teachers, families, and youth leaders. These guides, plus teacher workshops and other assistance by Greenbelt’s TM team of environmental educators, are designed to help educators make use of the superb outdoor spaces in their area as laboratories for scientific investigation, appreciation, and enjoyment. Also available are self-guided activity packs for small groups or families who wish to explore the magnificent salt marsh at the Cox Reservation, and open space maps, which are a good tool for exploration.
