The Green Book: Environmental Education Resource Guide

Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, based at Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge in Sudbury, offers a variety of interpretive and environmental education opportunities. The Service oversees eight refuges throughout Eastern Massachusetts, with habitats ranging from barrier beaches to forested wetlands. Each refuge offers a unique opportunity to students for hands-on exploration. Refuge staff incorporates the Massachusetts Science and Technology Curriculum Framework so that experiences can be linked to State standards. Interpretive Park Rangers are also available to visit classrooms and give programs on a variety of subjects, coupled with activities that connect students with the practical application of environmental concepts. The Rangers suggest a classroom visit coupled with a refuge visit for an enhanced environmental education experience.
