In 2017, MEES is celebrating 40 years of promoting Environmental Education (EE) in Massachusetts! The anniversary has given the Board of Directors pause. Where do we go from here? How can MEES support the work you are doing? Is the organization serving the needs of the membership? What benefits could we offer to members?

Rather than try to answer these questions internally, the Board is coming to you! MEES is holding regional Listening Sessions, combined with a fun activity, to gain some insight into the Massachusetts EE community and how the organization can better serve its needs.

The five Listening Sessions are scheduled for:

  • June 6 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. – Central Region
    • Hosted by the River Bend Farm Visitor Center in Uxbridge, MA
    • With a heritage walk led by Kathryn Parent of MassDCR
    • More information & registration…
  • September 21 or 26 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. – Cape & Islands
    • Hosted by the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster, MA
    • The museum will be open to attendees from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for exploration

  • October TBA – Northern Region
    • Hosted by TBA

November 14 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. – South Coast

  • Hosted by the Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford, MA
  • This meeting will coincide with the Southeastern Environmental Education Alliance Annual Meeting – all are welcome to join the Annual Meeting and MEES presentation
  • More information & registration…

MEES will provide refreshments and guide attendees through a live survey led by a MEES Board Member. The survey is intended to help MEES better serve the EE community in Massachusetts by asking for feedback on:

  • The annual MEES Conference
  • MEES Communications
  • MEES Membership
  • Additional MEES Programming
  • And more.

We, the MEES Board of Directors, hope you can join us on our state-wide “tour”!
